Talentlink Video Review feature is now available in both sandbox and live environments for all organisations using Talentlink, free of charge. Previously priced annually at £3,600 + VAT, this feature has been negotiated as part of the myjobscotland contract with Cornerstone, enabling organisations to benefit from this added functionality at no extra cost.

Video Review allows candidates to record one-way video responses directly within TalentlinkWe encourage you to explore this tool, which can enhance the recruitment and selection process by providing additional insights into candidate’s soft skills. A demo of Video Review is available here.

How Video Review WorksWith Video Review, you can set up questions that candidates respond to by recording a video. Here’s a quick overview of the process:

  • You define the question text and set a maximum response time (up to 3 minutes).
  • Candidates complete the question as part of the application process or receive an email with a link to complete their video responses. They can record directly from a webcam, use a mobile device, or upload a pre-recorded video.
  • Candidates can re-record their responses before submission, allowing them to present themselves confidently, without the pressure of a live interview.

Adding Video Review to a QuestionnaireThe Video Review feature is built into the questionnaire tool in Talentlink. When you edit or create a new questionnaire, you’ll now notice the previously greyed-out 'Video Question' option is enabled. You can simply drag and drop it into your questionnaire form to include it.

Using Video Review in Your Recruitment Process Video Review can be applied at various stages of the recruitment process. It is particularly useful for:

  • Application Stage: Video responses can be used to create a shortlist of candidates for reducing the number of interviews required.
  • Shortlisting Stage: Gathering additional insights before final interviews.

If you choose to use Video Review outside of the application stage, you can link it to a step in Talentlink. This enables managers to access videos directly, like how they would view application packs, and allows for automatic reminders and confirmation emails via the Rules Engine functionality.

Customising Video Questions When using Video Review in a selection process step, you can use a generic form or customise it for specific jobs. This flexibility allows you to tailor video questions according to the role’s unique requirements. Watch a short tutorial on how to customise the form [here].

Troubleshooting Video Uploads Some candidates have experienced issues when uploading high-resolution videos, especially from modern mobile phones, as these can produce large file sizes (e.g., 1-minute videos at 4K can be 440MB). To prevent these issues, we recommend advising candidates to lower their recording quality:

We hope you find Video Review to be a valuable addition to your recruitment toolkit, and we look forward to supporting you as you implement it in your organisation.
