We are adding a new field to the job requisition form which will required on all jobs. It's purpose is fairly simple to improve accessibility and help candidates find jobs they can apply for.

You will shortly see a new field appear on your job requisition form:

Will you consider applicants for this job with no qualifications or experience?

Which jobs you include in this category is completely up to you/ the recruiting manager. This is not a guarantee that all candidates will get an interview, they will still need to complete your usual application process, but should indicate a more open-minded recruitment process.

In advance of the roll out we recommend you check your internal TalentLink guides as you may need to add this field to your notes and share communications with those who are creating job requisitions.

Candidates can find themselves entering the workforce for the first time at any stage in life. This could be that they have been a stay at home parent, an unpaid carer or may have left school without qualifications. The filter can also be used by candidates who simply want to try a completely new career path unrelated to their past roles.

Feedback we have received previously is that candidates spend a lot of time looking for jobs, accessing the advert, proceeding to opening the job description, reading all the way down to the point the finally learn they cannot apply because they don't hold the appropriate qualifications and don't believe themselves to have the relevant experience.

By creating a way to showcase jobs where they can be trained in the role, this gives us the opportunity to recruit individuals we may otherwise have lost and build on their skills where we need them.

On the front end of myjobscotland candidates will only be able to filter this category where the question has been marked "Yes". The filter itself will display as a check box at the bottom of the filter menu:

This will load up a list of jobs with a message at the top explaining what the filter means.
